The Story of Anastasia

The story of Anastasia has a terrific ending. My story could have been a sad one, but thanks to good people, it has a happy ending. I love a good story, don’t you?

Before I go further, let me introduce myself.  So, for starters, I have two names!  My fancy name is Anastasia, which suits me because it sounds like a beautiful princess.  But everyone calls me Tasia (like Tasha.) And so, that’s why this is the story of Anastasia – but you can just call me Tasia.

The Story of Anastasia

My foster mom started calling me “Tashie” because she really likes me a lot.  I am about 12 years old and I spent my whole life up until now with one family.  Despite that, with the help of the folks of Low Rider (all volunteers) I did such a good job of making the transition to a new home!

My foster family has three other dogs for me to sniff and pal around with and take naps with.  We got along just fine – so my foster family knew I would be happy in a forever home with or without other dogs.  Younger dogs that have high energy don’t really interest me — I am a quiet gal, with a laid back, sweet personality.

Snuggling and having my head and ears scratched are some of my favorite things.  I am learning some new things that weren’t part of my old life, like taking walks and playing with toys.  Believe it or not, I’m even getting the hang of walking on a leash!  I am hoping my new family will buy me a nice halter because that will help me walk better.

The smells I find outside and getting to see all the new things are terribly exciting.  Going for car rides is special and I am a well-behaved passenger.  Everyone will tell you that I am a big foodie!  This girl loves to eat and I have to be careful about keeping my weight in a good zone.  That’s easy because I love veggies!

I will experiment with just about anything that is FOOD and I also love treats which makes training using little tasty treats a lot of fun.  I really have a passion for healthy chewies.  Those will keep me happy and occupied for hours!

The Story of Anastasia

At night I am happy to sleep with my family in the big bed, or I sometimes like to sleep in my own bed on the floor.  I need a doggie ramp for the bed, for sure. That’s really the only way it’s safe for me. Of course, it’s the best way for all my kind.  I do like to jump up on the sofa, so a ramp for getting down would be best for my back.

The Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida team has had me checked out by two vets and they agree I am really healthy.  I have all my shots and I’ve had heartworm and flea meds always to keep me safe and healthy.  My foster mom told me all the time what a very good girl I am.

Change Can Be Good

My personality has really blossomed as I’ve learned more and more new things and had more experiences.  Foster mom says I am pretty darn smart.  I might have a hard time hearing a few things, but I do come when I am called and I guarantee you that I am never late for dinner!

Because of the hard work of the volunteer team of Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida, I was able to find the perfect forever home with parents who love me, snuggle me, and give me all the healthy treats I need.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the good people who have given to Low Rider. I also want to thank the volunteers who drive to pick up dogs like me. Sometimes they rescue dogs from kill shelters, and from any number of situations. Sometimes they help good people find homes for beloved dogs who they can no longer care for. I’m so thankful I was given this chance. I’m really happy with my new humans.

Thank you all for caring, and for helping Low Rider help me! If you’d like to give to Low Rider, please do so by using the button below. Every little bit helps, and Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida has very little overhead (no shelter, just good foster homes and other volunteers) so, most everything goes straight to us dogs!
