Senior Dachshund Sassy – Pending Adoption

Senior Dachshund Sassy is house trained and walks well on the leash. She likes to sniff around while she’s taking her walks, like most hounds! It’s important to use a harness for dachshund back support.

Senior Dachshund Sassy

In the care of her foster home, she has not been crated but has used an x-pen successfully. She’s an independent sleeper and generally prefers to use her dog bed but has slept in the big bed with her fosters several times.

Like most dachshunds, Sassy is highly food motivated but is not aggressive. As a matter of fact, she has lost some needed weight since coming to Low Rider and it’s healthier for her humans to stay on top of that for her. Sassy needs to lose a little more weight. She should weigh 11-13 lbs., unfortunately she started the rescue journey VERY overweight, but the pounds are melting away thanks to quality food and exercise.

Sassy is an easy going dog who enjoys car and golf cart rides alike. Her fosters describe her as “mellow” and says she just loves the one she’s with! She doesn’t show signs of anxiety or fear of being alone. There is no excessive barking. The only time Sassy really barks is when someone knocks at the door and when it’s time to eat!

In our care she has received: Vet Check, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Minor Surgery (such as removal of benign cyst), Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal)

Senior Dachshund Sassy – 12 yrs, 14.5 lbs.

Sassy love to cuddle, nap in the sunshine, go for car rides, golf cart rides and walks. She’s well behaved in public and likes to ride in the dog stroller. Sassy’s not a barker unless someone is at the door or it’s supper time. Nice to other dogs and the cat, and Sassy really LOVES people!

She is fully vetted and very healthy. Sassy had all of her teeth removed due to severe dental disease, but that doesn’t stop her from eating softened kibble or catching the gecko who dares stray into the house or carport! She loves tomatoes and other veggies.

Sassy is a very quiet and sweet girl. It would be great for her to find an active couple or individual who will help her eat healthy and enjoy the outdoors with plenty of walks and maybe a golf cart ride. She’ll be happy paling around with her people. The adoption fee is $200

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
