Adoptable Dachshund Scar – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Scar loves taking walks and is very well behaved on a leash. His foster mommy says he’s the best behaved doxie she’s ever fostered! This little senior is a lovable, young at heart, dog who needs a home.

He likes other dogs and even cats. He really doesn’t seem to care either way if he is around other dogs. On walks he prefers to ignore other dogs and he seems to really enjoy being the only dog at his foster home. He would be ok in a house with other dogs but he is very submissive, so you’d want to be sure he wasn’t going to get bullied.

Scar is perfectly well-behaved when meeting new dogs or people, but it has little affect on him. He mostly likes his people. He sleeps in his own dog bed, near his foster family, but he’s probably go for sleeping with his people if allowed.

From his foster mom:

This little guy could use a new name since he came with the name Scar and it just doesn’t seem to fit his personality. He is the sweetest little guy and would love to be your new best buddy. He loves taking a walk and is the best housetrained doxie I have ever had! I think he might be part Tigger because he bounces more than any doxie I know. He is very food motivated and I think you could teach him just about anything using food as the reward.

Adoptable Dachshund Scar

Scar is such a sweetie, his foster mom has nicknamed him “Little Guy” and his foster dad calls him “Velcro” – he shows some signs of anxiety as he really likes to be with his people. But, he doesn’t bark excessively and isn’t afraid of thunder or any other issues.

He is not food aggressive but he gets very excited for any food so he can be overly eager to take it from your hand. I have been working on making him wait for a treat and take it nicely and he has caught on pretty quick. I am not sure where to mention this but since this is the food section I wanted to note that he is currently on special food because he had skin issues that we thought might be an allergy.

This little sweetie will follow you around the house, just making sure you’re ok and don’t need him for anything!

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
