Adoptable Dachshund Sandy – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Sandy REALLY likes other dogs to play with. She would be good in a home that has middle age kids and a young dog for her to play with.

Adoptable Dachshund Sandy

Sandy has a 12 year old dog as a foster sibling who isn’t interested in playing. Sandy barks at him to try to get him to chase her. Her foster pawrents play with her by chasing her, throwing her toys or taking her for a walk. This happens several times a day. Even though she plays with them, she would enjoy having a 4 legged playmate.

She’s a good girl who learns quickly, but Sandy is still learning to walk on a leash. A harness is important for the dachshund breed. She likes her walks and house training is going well. With more time, she’ll be in great shape.

In the morning she quickly goes out to potty. During the day she needs to be reminded every 3 hours. If you know she should potty, put her on a leash and take her for a walk. She usually goes then. We praise her and give her a treat when she goes potty. If she doesn’t go potty, we don’t give her a treat and we tell her why.

Although Sandy’s foster pawrents are home most of the time, she’s been good in a crate when they have to leave for a while. There are some signs of separation anxiety when you leave the house without her. She is accustomed to sleeping in a dog bed. She sleeps well through the night in her bed in the pawrents room with her foster daddy’s t-shirt for comfort.

Sandy is very good riding in the car. Sometimes she likes to sit on your lap but most of the time she’s happy in her car seat. Although she hasn’t had the opportunity to approach many new people and dogs, she is such a friendly and sweet girl, that we are certain there won’t be any issues that couldn’t be corrected easily. She likes to please her people. On walks, she has barked at new dogs along the way in an effort to play with them.

Dachshund Sandy – 1 yr, 13.3 lbs.

Sandy is a beautiful little girl who loves to cuddle and play. She’s a ball of energy because of her age. She loves to have you play catch with her toys. She is learning to let go of the toy when you say “release.” She needs someone to take the time to teach her some additional commands. She learns quickly, especially if you have treats. She is working on her house training and with a bit of encouragement and treats, she will be completely house broken soon. Adoption fee $350

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
