Adoptable Dachshund Mix Minnie – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Mix Minnie

Adoptable dachshund mix Minnie is a cute 2 year old, 12 pound female who likes other dogs and cats! Minnie is friendly. She even likes big dogs as long as they aren’t too active around her, which tends to scare her.

Minnie can be a little timid at first with new people. But, getting down on her level and allowing her to come to you will make a difference. She’s sweet and friendly when she knows she’s safe.

When Minnie first came to her fosters home, she had some signs of anxiety. We had been told she’s an anxious dog. Once she settled into her foster home, she did very well and her anxiety disappeared as her confidence grew. The process took about a month, which is not uncommon. It’s likely that she will experience some anxiety initially when she is adopted. When she gets to know her forever family, we have no doubt she’ll feel the love and settle right in again!

Minnie may have suffered some abuse at some time in her life because when she is reprimanded, she flattens herself to the floor as if afraid. It will be important to speak to her calmly and reassure her that all is well. She’s a smart girl who can learn “no” means no without loud or harsh voices. She did well for her fosters.

Her foster was told that she was not house trained, but has had no trouble at all with that. She’s smart and eager to please. As long as she is taken out, we don’t anticipate any issues.

Minnie

This girl is a real snuggle bug and (as is true to the dachshund in her) loves to burrow under the covers! Minnie likes to sleep with her foster family and will enjoy that in her new home, if possible. Her foster isn’t sure about food aggression, because they crate for feeding time. She isn’t crated at other times as it hasn’t been needed.

Minnie likes going for walks and is good on the leash. Sometimes she’ll pull a little bit as she gets excited at first during a walk. Her foster has had her walk off the leash without any issues as well. She’s a good girl!

In the past, there were children in the home with Minnie. We haven’t had a chance to witness how she behaves around them, but as long as they aren’t aggressive or allowed to jump around her, it’s most likely she would be fine. She’s a sweet dog.

Minnie

Minnie is a happy dog who likes to be on the go. She can easily do a 3-4 mile hike on or off leash. She is quite athletic, very fast runner, great jumper and lots of energy. We believe she would thrive with agility training and active owners who enjoy getting her outdoors regularly for exercise. Minnie is cute, eager to please and very healthy. She’ll make a wonderful pet for the right family.
