🏡 Her Perfect Home

If you’re looking for a little shadow who will love you with her whole heart, Kaiya may be your perfect match.

Kaiya is happiest when she’s with her person. Whether she’s curled up at your feet, burrowed under a cozy blanket, joining you for a walk, or happily riding shotgun on a car ride, she simply wants to be part of everything you do. She would thrive with someone who is home most of the time and looking for a devoted best friend.

🧸 Playtime & Fun

Kaiya has a playful side and absolutely loves her stuffies! She enjoys playing with other dogs and loves walks, car rides, and spending time with her family. Whether it’s playtime or cuddle time, she’s happiest sharing it with the people she loves.

🐶 Dog Friends

Kaiya gets along well with other small dogs and enjoys playing with them. However, she resource guards her food around other dogs and can become possessive of her favorite person when another dog is nearby. Her food guarding is only directed toward other dogs—people can safely handle her food bowl without any issues.

Because of this, Kaiya would likely be happiest as the only dog in her forever home. While she enjoys canine playmates, having a home where she doesn’t feel she has to compete for food or attention will allow her to truly relax and thrive.

🐱 Cats & Kids

Kaiya currently lives with two cats and is mostly indifferent to them, although she has chased them a couple of times. She is best suited for a home with dog-savvy cats if any are present.

She has not been tested with children, but because she can be possessive of her person and appreciates her personal space, a home with older, respectful children would be the best fit.

🚶 Walks & Adventures

Kaiya enjoys going for walks and walks well on a leash, although she can pull a little when she’s excited. She absolutely loves car rides and is always ready to tag along on your next adventure

🏠 Home Life

Kaiya is mostly house trained and has only had an occasional accident while recovering from surgery to remove a large bladder stone. She enjoys relaxing in an open crate but has never needed the door shut. She’ll happily use a dog bed but would much rather snuggle up in bed with her favorite person at night.

🌩️ Sensitive Soul

Kaiya does experience some separation anxiety and will cry briefly when her foster leaves the house before settling down. She is also very frightened by fireworks, thunderstorms, and other loud noises. During scary moments, all she wants is to be close to the person she trusts most.
