Adoptable Dachshund Mason is the father of several sons who are up for adoption through Low Rider. He’s a good boy but had never been introduced to other dogs outside his litter, didn’t know how to walk on the leash and normal dog life. Fortunately, he’s a young dog, good natured, and a quick learner.
A household with small children would probably not be a good fit for Mason since he doesn’t like quick movements to pick him up or touch him. It is unknown as to how he would do with cats.
Mason rarely barks outside, only after the foster’s dog would bark, would he start in. He didn’t bark much initially at his foster’s house. Mason started barking a little after about a month when he wanted out of his x-pen. He isn’t highly reactive to sounds outside nor neighbor’s talking outside. He does bark a lot when the doorbell rings.
He’s been house training with success (not quite perfect yet) but he’s doing well. He’s learned to walk on the leash but requires continued practice and a good schedule. It’s important that an adopter be willing to go the distance with Mason and/or his sons as they are all good dogs who will learn the ropes with consistency.
In our care he has received: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Spay or Neuter, Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication.
It’s important that an adopter be patient with him and give him time to adjust. Although very friendly and sweet, he hasn’t been in many normal situations and simply needs to feel secure with you and then will certainly continue his training and learning how to be a happy-go-lucky, normal dog. He’s well on his way!

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
