Adoptable Dachshund GiGi – Pending Adoption

Adoptable Dachshund GiGi is the most precious dachshund there is. She is quite nervous at first but will warm up quickly with some patience and love. She loves to play with her toys and cuddle with humans or dogs. She has bursts of energy and is one fast sausage!

Adoptable Dachshund GiGi

In our care, she has received: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Spay or Neuter, Nails Trimmed, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication

She loves other calm dogs. GiGi will be best in a home with another dog to cuddle with as she enjoys dogs big and small – As long as they are calm and friendly, they will get along. When she sees cats during her walk, she gets excited but we do not know how she will react in the same household. Being as young as she is, it’s likely that she could easily be trained.

With a sweet nature, GiGi should be fine with kids, as long as they are taught to be gentle and calm to gain her trust. GiGi needs to be in a well fitted harness, but loves to go on walks. We recommend daily walks for her. She does like to explore, but her foster parents have been working with her daily to walk on the leash and she’d made wonderful progress. This type of training should continue for this young dog.

GiGi is house trained. If she has an accident, she will use the potty pads inside. Likes to use the bathroom outside accompanied by a human. She is crate trained, but doesn’t like it and has had accidents in the crate because of anxiety over it. We do not recommend crating her.

If given the opportunity, GiGi would love to sleep in the bed with her humans. She currently uses a dog bed. She doesn’t mind car rides as long as she is in a comfortable raised bed. If left on seat, she will pace back and forth and become anxious.

GiGi is not food or toy aggressive. She is friendly when meeting new people but she gets nervous around strangers. Recommend people to be patient and let her come to you. Being in the home with another easy-going dog will be useful in helping her learn the ways of the dog! She’s friendly when meeting new dogs. As long as the other dog is calm, and friendly, she will be curious to meet them.

Adoptable Dachshund GiGi

She is very shy and is nervous around new things. Does not like strangers picking her up or sticking their hands in her face. She will run away, but is not aggressive in any way.

She has separation anxiety like most dachshunds, but nothing too alarming. She gets anxiety around new surroundings and will need a few days to settle in. Once she knows she can trust, she is a cuddler!
