Adoptable dachshund Buster is now pending adoption. He’s a very sweet 10 year old, 14 lb purebred Dachshund who loves to snuggle, once he gets to know you! He is a beautiful piebald who needs just a bit of time to warm up to you, but is well worth the wait.

He will be your shadow as he loves to be close to his person, always. Buster loves his people but does not go out of his way to interact or play much with other dogs. He is not cat tested, and should not be in a home with cats or young children.
Buster came from a home with several young children. The relationship with them was causing him stress. He would growl (but never tried to bite) and was surrendered before anything escalated.
Since living with his foster mom in August, he has become much less stressed and his mood has improved significantly. We believe he will do very well in a home of adults with another dog to play with. And he’s very affectionate, once he gets to know you.
His foster mom was careful about not picking him up or being handsy with him at first, due to his stressful experience – and that has calmed him right down! Especially with a senior dog, it’s always a good idea to let them ease into the relationship.
We recommend not picking them up without making sure they are on board with the idea. When introducing a senior dog (especially if they have been through trauma) we approach slowly and give them a couple of weeks to feel secure. On his own terms, this pretty boy has warmed right up and is becoming quite the lap dog!
Buster loves to sleep in his crate as long as he is allowed to go to bed on his own, as he may grumble and complain if placed there by his humans. He also loves the big bed with his people when allowed!
He is working on mastering piddle pads and generally will alert to go outside when he needs to, unless it is raining! Buster has good leash manners and is not an excessive barker.
