Adoptable Mix Heidi – Adopted

Adoptable Mix Heidi

Adoptable Mix Heidi is a smart, beautiful, three-year-old dachshund/pit bull mix with just the right amount of playful energy. Her foster family love her dearly and would keep her if they felt they had the right environment for her. We are seeking a forever home for Heidi that has no other pets and no small children. This is a requirement for her to thrive in her home.

Adoptable Mix Heidi

Since being in her foster home, Heidi has received professional training regarding appropriate behavior when meeting new people and dogs. She has responded well to this training. She has learned several commands, including “leave it”, “stay” and “come”. Heidi does well on a leash and is very obedient to her person. She is people-focused and seems complacent about other dogs. She will respond to aggression or unexpected behavior on the part of another dog by possibly lashing out at the dog if it makes her fearful. Heidi must be introduced properly to new dogs and new people.

Adoptable Mix Heidi

Heidi has a bright personality. She wakes up every morning with an enthusiasm for the day! Her foster family loves this about her. Her ideal day would include much time spent with her person, playing tug-of-war, going for a walk and then spending some quiet time with you.

She is house trained and will let you know when she needs to potty. She knows how to use a doggy door. Heidi is not specifically crate trained but will go lay down in her room with a treat and stay there all night long quietly. Car rides are fun with this girl. She enjoys riding with the windows down to sniff the air!

Adoptable Mix Heidi

Heidi is a healthy dog; however, she does have a birth defect which turns both of her front legs inward. This doesn’t affect Heidi’s love for life or cause her any pain. The vet examined her legs and determined there was nothing that can or should be done to correct them. She’s a happy girl and ready for her forever home!

Adoptable Mix Heidi 3 years – 23 lbs

In the right home, she would be an incredible loving companion and very well-behaved dog. In fact, in all our years of rescue we have not met a dog with such a strong commitment to her person and the bond that will form will be stronger than you would expect.

She is a dog who needs to know that her person is in charge. Once that connection is established, a wonderful relationship can result. The most important element needed for a lifetime of love with Heidi is understanding that you must be patient while she becomes comfortable, and trust is built between the two of you. HEIDI MUST COME TO YOU WHEN SHE’S READY. After that, she will learn to be your number one companion and you will be the love of her life.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
