Adoptable Dachshund Boomer – Adopted

If you are lucky, at least once in your life you will experience a “melting” dachshund. Boomer is that dog. When you look him in the eyes, you melt. When you pick him up, he melts in your arms. If a dog could live on love alone, it would be Boomer.

Adoptable Dachshund Boomer

This boy absolutely loves meeting new people and winning them over as soon as possible. He charms them in an instant and everyone always comments on how sweet and loving he is right from the first time they see him.

Boomer gets along well with small dogs, and we suspect he would do fine with larger dogs that are well behaved. He has an easy-going personality. We are unsure of how he is around cats, but foster mom notes that he does not have a high prey drive.

Boomer is six years old and eighteen pounds. He has been diagnosed with alopecia, which we suspect is due to poor breeding practices. Since being with foster mom, Boomer’s fur has begun to grow back healthy. Baths and proper nutrition go a long way. His coat will always be a little thin, but he’s still so handsome!

Boomer would be a great dog to take with you to go places that are pet friendly. He does well on leash and enjoys car rides. We do recommend using a dog seat in the car since he likes to sneak up on your lap! Boomer also loves to soak up the sunshine!

In the home, Boomer currently sleeps in a dog bed, however, he would most likely love to be in the big bed with you. He is not crate trained. Boomer is working on potty training. We do not think he was correctly trained as a puppy. Since being with his foster family, Boomer has made progress in telling them when he needs to go out and knows how to use a doggy door. Prior to being neutered, Boomer would mark in the house. Now that has completely stopped. He’s a smart boy and we know he will do well with patience and a consistent routine in his new home.

We believe Boomer would be the happiest placed in a home with another dog so he wouldn’t be left alone. He doesn’t show severe anxiety without his person around, but he is such a lover he is happiest with a buddy.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
