❤️ Personality

Cosmo is the definition of a loyal companion. He loves being close to his people—whether he’s curled up beside you on the couch, following you around the house, or enjoying a leisurely walk together. He’s playful, enjoys chasing toys, and has settled nicely into his foster home’s routine.

While he is friendly with new people, he appreciates slow introductions. He may bark at first but warms up quickly when given a little time and patience. Like many dogs adjusting to a new environment, Cosmo continues to build confidence every day.

🐕 Dog Friends

Cosmo peacefully coexists with his foster’s 5-year-old Mini Dachshund. They don’t interact much, but they live together without any issues or aggression.

When out on walks, however, Cosmo can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs. He may bark and lunge when he sees them and will benefit from continued positive leash training. His foster has made great progress introducing him to a harness and teaching him to walk politely beside her instead of leading.

🚶 Exercise & Training

  • Enjoys daily walks
  • Learning loose-leash walking
  • Responds well to gentle, consistent guidance
  • Would benefit from continued leash-reactivity training

🏡 Home Life

Cosmo is fully house trained and has excellent manners indoors. Although he isn’t crated, he sleeps comfortably in an exercise pen with his bed in his foster’s room. He even chooses to relax there on his own during the day, making it his own cozy space.

🍖 Food & Toys

Cosmo is not food aggressive during meals. His foster has handled his food bowl while he was eating without any problems.

He did growl once when a very high-value bone was taken away, so it’s best to simply allow him to enjoy special chew items undisturbed or trade for something equally valuable.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Match

Cosmo would do best with:

  • ❤️ An adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children
  • 🐾 A patient adopter willing to continue his leash training
  • 🏡 A calmer home where introductions to visitors are handled slowly
  • 👤 Someone looking for a loyal companion who loves being close to his person
