Adoptable Mix Draco came to the shelter a terrified little pup. His foster parent decided to take a chance on him. As soon as Draco got in the first transporter’s car, he settled down. He has been nothing like he was in the shelter. Within a few days, Draco was a totally transformed dog! Sweet, affectionate, likes to be in his foster’s lap.
Because of his history with trauma (of which we aren’t entirely sure) it’s important that you let him come to you until he is used to you. It could take up to 2-3 months for him to become completely settled in. He IS very sweet, but it’s important at first to let him come to YOU, use a soft voice to reassure him it’s ok. NEVER touch his food bowl – Draco sees that at a threat! When company arrives, he should be placed in another room where it is quiet. He is apprehensive of new people.
Draco is apprehensive around other dogs. He was exposed to a cat, but they were separated by a gate. Draco is very timid and will cower if someone raises their voice. He wouldn’t do well in a noisy or chaotic environment with children.
Adoptable Mix Draco was afraid of the leash the first couple of times, but he soon
figured out it meant he was getting to go for a walk. Draco walks for a while but prefers doing his business in the back yard. A yard will be a big plus for him! He will go and sit by the back door when he needs to go out. He is fine in a crate or X pen although he is not in there very much.
Draco gets startled by loud trucks, but isn’t afraid of thunder. He barks appropriately (when the other dogs bark, Fedex person, or the doorbell ). Draco had his Young (between 1-4) Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Spay or Neuter, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication.
Adoptable Mix Draco – 2 years – 10.5 lbs
Draco is searching for a quiet lifestyle with gentle people or person who will understand him and give him the time and patience he needs. He would LOVE to have a backyard, is more comfortable with women, and will NOT react well if you touch his food bowl. With that being said, he is ready and willing to share love and needs a forever home where he is safe to do so.
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
