Adoptable Dachshund Mix Missy is a sweet dachshund mix who does not fit the saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks!” She would be great in a home with other dogs, especially males.
Adoptable Dachshund Mix Missy
Missy prefers walks using a harness or leash. She will notify when she needs to go outside for potty breaks, particularly after naps. She is fully house broken.
Missy is a great night sleeper once she finds her forever home and settles in. After about two days at her foster home, she is sleeping from 10 pm until 7 am.
She loves attention as she excitedly wags her nub of a tail. Missy has a hard time seeing or hearing; however, once she knows her forever home she will get used to it.
Like many dachshund and dachshund mixes, Missy can be just a touch stubborn. Though she is not toy or food aggressive, she prefers soft food and will go on a hunger strike until she realizes she has eat what is offered. She will beg for people food; shocking, we know!
This friendly little girl isn’t shy or timid and likes to go for car rides. She enjoys both people and dogs alike. She is even friendly with cats.
Missy has had no trouble becoming adjusted to her foster home with new people and other dogs. Like many others, she tends to choose “her person” and wants to follow them everywhere. There were some signs of anxiety in that she really wants to be with them all around the house and can get nervous and go on the floor if not allowed to accompany them. This should dissipate once she is fully assimilated into her new home because there are otherwise no accidents.
They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks but she quickly learned commands like “Missy come, out to pee, no” and is eager to please.
Summary
Missy has been a great addition to the all male animal household of her foster family. She automatically became part the pack. She IS a dog who enjoys learning new tricks! Even though she has a hard time seeing and hearing, once she knows her home she gets around fine. She like water too for small bits of time so put your swim suit on, hold on to her, she’s happy.
