Adoptable Dachshund Nugget
Adoptable dachshund Nugget is ***PENDING ADOPTION*** a well-behaved, mature dog who loves to go for walks and cuddle up in bed. Her foster mom describes her as a “little NUGGET of Sweetness”!
While she might bark at first, she’s not aggressive and gets friendly quickly. Nuggie is the nickname given her in the Low Rider foster home and this little one seems to think that is really funny. Either way, she always comes running, especially if she hears the word “treat”.
She should do fine with older kids who are trained to be calm and aware of proper care of dachshunds. A home with a younger child, under the age of 5 years, would not be appropriate.
After spending eleven years cooped up in a crate with my little brother, Nugget absolutely loves to run around in the yard, feel the breeze, let her ears flap in the wind, and lay in the sunshine as a real Low Rider Florida sun-doggie should. It’s important that she never be required to spend time in a crate, with the exception of emergency transportation, of course.
Nugget is good on a leash and thouroughly enjoys walks, and thinks car rides are the best! She’s had a chance to ride in a golf cart, a bicycle basket, and take a couple of boat rides. She loves the adventures!
When she first came to her foster home she was not socialized at all and everything scared her. She barked a lot and wouldn’t settle in. After a few short weeks, with patience, lots of love, and freedom from the crate, she has become a happy and confident girl.
Nugget will still bark at strangers (the Amazon man) but has shown the ability to make friends really quickly. She loves to give kisses. Her foster mom describes her as the “velveteen dachshund” with soft fur to soak up the nice body rubs this little Nugget craves!
She currently lives with 3 other dogs and sometimes catches a nap cuddled up with one of them in a dog bed. She’s learned a lot about real life and isloving it!
Nugget would like a home where someone is around during the day because she do not do well when left alone. She likes other small dogs and doesn’t have experience with big dogs. Maybe you work from home, or you are retired, and you would like a sweet little Nugget to spice up your life?
Nugget is a YOUNG at heart 11 year old who weighs only 9 pounds!
If you believe you could provide the safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
