Adoptable Dachshund Mix HotDog – Adopted!

Adoptable Dachshund Mix HotDog is an extremely lovable dachshund mix who thrives with his family. He is definitely a lap dog, and will lay on your lap for hours!

He was rescued after being hit by a car! If you follow Low Rider, you may remember him from Facebook. He underwent several surgeries and it was a tough road for this little fella. But guess what? With medical care (via donations made by folks who care) HotDog has made a wonderful recovery!

You’ll notice in a couple of pictures that his hair is growing back nicely where it was shaved for surgery. He truly is a precious little sweetheart of a dog who won the hearts of everyone who assisted in his rescue.

Without the support from Low Rider Rescue and the good people who donate time and/or money to the cause, it’s likely that he would not have been given this second chance at life!

HotDog will follow you around the house like a little puppy dog; and is protective of his person.

He sleeps through the night in his exercise pen, and never makes a peep until you let him out. HotDog is a smart pup.  For example, he understands certain keywords such as “no” and “down”.

HotDog is currently training to walk on left side, and he happily enjoys his walks. He
uses piddle pads but goes outside on leash about every 4 hours. HotDog sleeps through the night without needing to go out.

He loves his crate with door open but doesn’t like to be locked in. He also uses an exercise pen when left alone in house. HotDog sleeps through the night in his closed exercise pen on bed under blanket until his pen has been opened.

HotDog is getting used to riding in the car and has made good progress. He uses a harness in front passenger seat. At first, he was anxious, but he’s getting better! He loves ear rubs.

HotDog suffers from separation anxiety, so leaving the exercise pen handy and some clothes from his owner’s scent would help. He does bark a little incessantly, as he doesn’t like being left alone. Clothes with owners scent on them helps some. He’ll benefit by going to a home where someone is around most of the time.

HotDog seems skittish and startled by loud noises. He would make a great watch dog! He recently had an Adult Nail Trim.

Adoptable Dachshund Mix HotDog – 6 years – 10 lbs

He would excel in a house with other small dogs, older children, and no cats.  HotDog loves being in the same room with his family, and he will  bond with each and every member. He does not have a favorite person but will love each one equally. He is truly a best friend!

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
