Adoptable Dachshund Layla – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Layla is a 6 year old, 11 pound, female who is a joy to be around. She likes other dogs. Layla is indifferent to her 3 foster brothers. She is not threatened by them but doesn’t play much either. They all sleep in a confined area at night but have their own beds.

Layla has not been exposed to any cats but doesn’t appear to have a strong prey drive, and doesn’t chase balls or toys and is non reactive to moving vehicles when outside.

Layla is a mellow dog and doesn’t play much, she’s probably not suited to smaller children. Also, because of her delicate size, very young children would not be a good fit.

She tolerates the leash and walks short distances without pulling. But, she’s not a motivated walker however, due to her small size. She enjoys meandering on short walks.

Layla is fully house-trained and has had no accidents. She’s used to going long periods of time in-between potty breaks according to the previous owner. Although she can be crated, it hasn’t been needed because she’s well-behaved.

She likes sleeping in the room with her foster mom, but is accustomed to sleeping in her own bed. Layla is food motivated and tends to gobble. She is being fed with a special feeder to slow eating. Even so, she has not been aggressive with the other dogs but each dog is fed in his or her “area”. It would be wise to watch Layla if feeding with other dogs because of her tendency to gobble her food.

When meeting new dogs or people, she is a bit shy and timid. Layla is a bit independent and has shy tendencies until she gets to know you. Layla is used to being alone for longer periods of time doesn’t show any signs of separation anxiety.

Her barking is appropriate. She barks when encouraged by her foster brothers and likes to bark for her food while it is being prepared!

Adoptable Dachshund Layla – Summary

Layla is a joy to be around. Though a bit shy at first she warms quickly once she becomes familiar with you. She was used to spending too much time alone so she tends to appear stand-offish or a loner but once she knows you and knows you’re there she wants her share of attention. Layla is a dainty little girl and will let you know she wants more pets with gentle nudging and dainty kisses. She has very short little legs, meandering when she walks on the leash. She sleeps in her own bed at night in a shared area and never makes a peep. Layla is completely house trained although she really doesn’t have a specific signal to let you know she needs to go.
