Adoptable Dachshund Ben – has been adopted. He is a 5-year-old 13.6 lb. male. He is an absolute snuggle bunny. Ben makes the perfect lap dog and will sit on your lap as much as you will let him. He nuzzles his head under your neck and of course, you instantly fall in love.
Adoptable Dachshund Ben
Ben’s a people person, but he also loves to play with other dogs. As a matter of fact, he does so well, we’ve decided he needs to be in a home with dog siblings. A fenced yard would be a plus for him, especially so he can play with friends.
It is unknown at this time if he enjoys cats. He doesn’t do well with children under 5 years of age. We’ve not used a crate with him, he’s a good boy who prefers to hang out with his family in the house. He is pee pad trained if you need to go out awhile and are worried about it.
If Ben is afraid, he will lash out to protect himself. This behavior has only been witnessed at the veterinarian’s office. At home if he is afraid, he rolls over and has submissive peeing. We have seen this behavior when he’s meeting new people. You’ll want to be careful with these issues and watch him carefully when meeting new humans.
This shy little fella enjoys sleeping in the bed with his foster parents. He hopes to continue the tradition in his forever home. He isn’t food or toy aggressive. Although, he IS treat motivated – which might help when meeting new people. Bones are one of his favorites!
Ben is completely house trained, walks well on a leash and loves to go on car rides and go shopping with his people. He picks and chooses whether or not he will come when called – but again, it motivated by those treats!
