Adoptable Dachshund Arlo is a 3 year old, 18 pound fun loving fella who loves to play ball. He gets along well with other dogs, both male and female. We are unaware as to how he does with big dogs or cats.
Arlo does not mind small kids, especially when they are playing ball with him but he’s not the type of dog to be a kids best friend. He does fine with older kids too.
Arlo can be a picky eater but once he figures out that he’ll like it, he will have zero problems from there on out.
His foster mom says he is mostly house trained. Initially, he was a major leg lifter! After being neutered, he is much better. Once in a while, he’ll have an accident when left at home for long stretches.
When meeting new people, Arlo can be shy, but once he has a little time to adjust, he is a friendly little guy. With dogs and people alike, he needs time to warm up, but enjoys both when he feels secure.
Arlo is a very vocal little boy. He barks when he wants to play, if he hears noise or even when someone walks towards him. He will bark in the middle of the night or early morning when he hears someone getting up in the house. He will bark at anyone new walking into a room.
He loves walks but will lick anything he can so being cautious is a must! He’s learning to do better on the leash, but was a puller at first. His new family will want to continue practicing and encouraging him with this.
During the daytime, Arlo enjoys his dog bed and hanging out on the couch. At night, he prefers to sleep with his people. He hasn’t used a crate.
Arlo isn’t food or toy aggressive. He does, however, get a little rambunctious when playing and will growl – but he is playing. This fella does well on car rides and doesn’t mind at all. He can be a little protective and will bark when others come near but he will wag his tail at the same time so it’s just him being protective and not aggressive. This is something that can be worked on. He doesn’t bark excessively.
Adoptable Dachshund Arlo 3 years – 18 lbs.
Arlo is a good little boy who is just a little love bug once he gets used to you. He loves giving kisses. He tends to pick one human as his favorite and will stay by that humans side wherever they go.
Arlo enjoys being outside and especially loves laying in the sun. If a pool is near he has no problem dropping his ball in and jumping in after it, so he must be watched outside at all times near a pool! He is a great swimmer but with those little legs he will probably tire out fast.
He absolutely loves playing with his balls inside and especially outside, to little tennis balls as well as big basketballs. He loves them all! If this fun loving, young fella sounds like a good fit for your family, please see instructions below.
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
