Meet this beautiful bonded pair, Ms Lady and Olivia dachshunds! Both are eight years old and looking for their forever home together. Olivia weighs in at about 14 pounds and Miss Lady weighs just under 17 pounds. These two would love to find a forever home with an adopter who is home most of the time and who has a fenced in yard they can spend their days lounging around together.
Ms Lady
Olivia and Miss Lady get along very well with the other dog in their foster home, although they were a little leary at first as the other dog is bigger than them. The girls are not interested in playing with other dogs or one another, they prefer to spend their days taking naps or being all snuggled up with each other or with their humans.
They would do fine in a home by themselves or fine in a home where there are other (small or large) laid-back mellow dogs. We aren’t sure how the girls would do with cats as they haven’t been around any since coming to the rescue. We also aren’t sure how they would do with children since they haven’t been around any in their foster home but we think they’d do good with older children who are understanding and respectful of dog boundaries.
Olivia
The girls love walks and their leash manners have improved a ton since coming to their foster home. Olivia could definitely use a little more work on walking well on leash, but she has been improving while in her foster home. When it comes to house-training, the girls do pretty well being let out at different intervals during the day and use pee pads in between those intervals. We are unsure if the girls are crate trained or not as they have not needed to be crated while in their foster homes.
Bonded Pair of Dachshunds
The girls love hanging out with one another and can often be found snuggled up, sharing a dog bed in a quiet corner of the house. They also love cuddling up on the couch, especially being all cuddled up in a blanket! They also love sleeping in the big bed with the humans at night, so a home who will let them continue to do this will be ideal. They love spending time in the backyard, so an adopter with a fenced in backyard would also be ideal for this pair!
When it comes to car rides, Miss Lady is pretty mellow and doesn’t mind riding around. Olivia is a little more anxious in the car and doesn’t settle as easily. They have only been in the car a few times since coming to the rescue, so they would likely get more and more comfortable over time. They do good with meeting new humans- after an initial little bark, they relax pretty quickly. When it comes to meeting new dogs, they always want to walk right up to say hello!
Vetting
In our care, the girls have had all the following: Vet Check, Dental Exam, Spay or Neuter, Minor Surgery (such as removal of benign cyst), Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal)
They sometimes use anti-anxiety medication and would likely benefit from this in their new home as well, especially during the initial few weeks. Olivia can also be a frequent barker, but Miss Lady hardly ever barks.
If you would like to assist with donations to help Low Rider pay for vetting expenses, it is greatly appreciated. We rely on individual donations to save the dogs. Thank you!
Ms Lady and Olivia Dachshunds – 8 yrs, 17 and 14 lbs
Both pups do have separation anxiety (likely as a result of their rough past) and do not like being away from their people, so an adopter who is home a majority of the time would be ideal for these two. The girls are hoping for a fenced yard to lounge in and would like their humans to be home a good bit. They have their paws crossed that they will be allowed to sleep in the big bed! Adoption fee $250 each ($500)
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
