The Low Rider Transportation Team plays an important role (all roles are important) but without this team, we would not be able to get so many dogs to foster homes and forever homes where they need to be.

***If you have already filled out the Volunteer application and have been active within the last year, there is no need to fill out another one!***

Whether you can drive long distances or short, you can help rescue these precious dachshunds and dachshund mixes.

Low Rider Transportation Team

Here’s a few things you need to know about transportation with Low Rider:

  1. We provide a crate, leash, harness and instructions.
  2. You have a team leader to guide you to the correct location and to help with any issues that may arise.
  3. Signing up for transportation doesn’t mean you have to sign away your weekends or evenings. You only take on the jobs you are available for.
  4. You don’t have to drive long distances. Sometimes a 30 minute trip or an hour trip makes all the difference.
  5. Our team leader does an amazing job of coordinating pickups and drop offs all across the state! You might pick up a dog at a Cracker Barrell near you (or another similar location) and use the Low Rider crate to safely transport them. You’ll know ahead of time where you’ll be going. That can be an hour away or whatever you are able to do. If the dog needs to travel a long distance, you’ll likely be meeting up with another driver or possibly a foster parent, or even an adoptive parent, at a public location.
  6. We value your input. If you arrive at a location that doesn’t look right, safe, or is too crowded, you have options. We’ll help you find the next best spot. Your safety and that of the dogs is always first!
  7. You can transport dogs as often or as little as able. It’s okay if you can only help out once every month or bi-monthly. Hey! We appreciate it. The team leader checks her map to see who is in the right areas and sends out the call for help. If you can’t do it, there is no pressure. We are ALL VOLUNTEERS!
