Donny the Dachshund Mix has been adopted. He is 2 years old and 14.6 lbs. Donny likes other dogs, but we aren’t sure whether he likes cats. He wants to play and loves toys….to destroy them.
He walks on a leash, but definitely needs some practice to improve. A dog as young as he is should learn quickly with consistency. He is doing well walking after recovering from injuries to his paws.
Donnie has a dog bed near his foster’s bed and cuddles with one of the dogs. Although he is sweet in this way, like many, he can be possessive of his toys, and gets excited about food – don’t we all? If you give him a toy he will happily squeak it until ready to destroy it and then look at you for praise.
Donny is not shy at all, but does not like when his fosters leave. He doesn’t enjoy being left but does fine when he has other dogs around. Donny barks at the other dogs like he is trying to tell them something. He wants approval but does not seem to be afraid of anything.
He has come a long way from the injured boy he was originally with painfully raw paws! His foster mom says,
Donny is an absolute joy! His feet look great and he has some muscles now. He was so very skinny and now he has such a beautiful shape and glossy thick coat. He responds to his name very quickly and like any puppy he just wants to please me and be praised. He is also protective and goofy and LOUD…lol. I’m so proud of him he can walk, run, get his feet on the chair and do stairs! Someone is going to just fall in live with him and he deserves nothing less.

Donny the Dachshund Mix
Donny, for Don Juan, is a lover and total sweetheart – defender of the weak, playful and goofy. He loves to be center of attention and will flop over for scratches any time you are willing. Donny is not a big kisser but is always ready for a snuggle. He loves his food and finds his greatest joy just being with people and puppy pals.
If you live in Florida and believe Donny could be the dog you’ve been looking for, please fill out an application with his name on it. There is no charge to apply. If chosen by the fosters and team to adopt him, the adoption fee is $250.
