Meet Dachshunds Rascal and Gypsy, a bonded pair of senior sweethearts who are ready to steal the hearts of their future adopters! At 15 years old, these two have been together forever and need to stay together in their future home. These two super seniors are just looking for a family to love them and a nice place to lay their heads and live out their golden years in a calm, peaceful environment.
Rascal and Gypsy get along very well with the other small dog in their foster home. They all take walks together and sleep in the same bed together. We are unsure how Rascal and Gypsy would do with bigger dogs, cats, or children as they have not been exposed to any of those while in their foster home.
These sweet seniors love their walks! They do great on leash and look forward to their daily walks. They both do pretty good with their house training, but they do have to go out frequently as they can’t hold their bladders for too long. When their foster parents leave the house, they put them in belly bands/diapers as a precaution so the pups are used to this. We are unsure if Rascal and Gypsy are crate-trained, as they have not needed to be crated while in their foster homes. These little pups do great with having free roam around the house. They also love being outside in the sun, so a fenced in backyard would be ideal for these two!
Rascal and Gypsy love their dog beds, but prefer to sleep in the big bed with their people. They enjoy a good cuddle session with their humans! Neither pup has shown any food or toy aggression while in their foster home. They both don’t mind car rides, in fact they love them! They are friendly while meeting new people, although Rascal will bark for a few minutes before settling down. Neither pup shows signs of separation anxiety, they don’t mind some alone time. Rascal can be a little barky sometimes, and Gypsy generally follows suit.
Vetting
While in our care, Rascal and Gypsy has both received the following: Vet Check, Dental Exam, Minor Surgery (such as removal of benign cyst), Nails Trimmed, Major Dental (cleaning and removal).
When Rascal and Gypsy came to the rescue, it was clear that they needed some intense medical intervention. Both pups underwent a dental surgery- Gypsy ended up getting 9 teeth removed while Rascal ended up with 21 teeth being removed. Gypsy was found to be in stage 2 renal failure and requires prescription kidney food to keep her as healthy as possible. Rascal has very poor eyesight which can sadly be pretty confusing for him. He can get a little snippy with his sister and sometimes growls at her if she gets too close without him realizing. It is essential that these two are adopted to a forever home where they understand their special senior needs.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
