Dachshunds Jake and Romeo

Meet dachshunds Jake and Romeo, the most handsome bonded pair of boys! Jake and Romeo are both 5 years old, friendly with other dogs, house-trained, sweet as can be, and love a good cuddle session. What more could you ask for?! Romeo and Jake are so excited to find their forever home with a forever family who will appreciate all the love they have to offer.

Dachshunds Jake and Romeo

Jake and Romeo get along well with the other dog in their foster home and they absolutely love one another, of course! Aside from that, their interactions with other dogs have been minimal since coming to the rescue but we believe that Jake and Romeo would do well with other dogs once acclimated. We are unsure how the boys would do with cats or with children as they have had no experience with either since coming to the rescue.

Jake and Romeo both love a good walk and get so excited when their foster mom takes out the leash! They are both slightly overweight and their foster mom has been working hard to make sure they are getting enough daily exercise so an adopter who will continue with this exercise regimen is ideal. Both boys do great on leash and love walks with one another. Jake and Romeo are also both recently house-trained and they have done very well with using a doggy door at their foster home. We are unsure if either pup is crate-trained as they have not needed to be crated while in their foster home. Both boys do well with having free roam of the house while their foster parents are away. When their foster mom comes home from being away, she often finds them curled up cuddling on a dog bed together.

Romeo tends to be a little more anxious, whereas Jake is just happy to go with the flow. New places can be a bit scary for Romeo so he requires a bit more comfort and encouragement for doing tough things, like going to the vet. Both boys are not big fans of loud noises and would prefer peace and quiet all the time if they could have it their way. Loud noises, such as thunder, do scare both boys a bit but their approaches to dealing with it differ. Jake will try to bark at the loud noises in an attempt to make them go away, whereas Romeo has decided his foster mom’s closet is his safe space and he retreats there whenever he gets frightened. Neither pup is an excessive barker but they do bark a bit at unfamiliar noises and things like your typical dachshunds.

Both boys love dog beds, but would much prefer sleeping in the big bed and cuddling up with their people. Neither Jake nor Romeo have shown any toy or food aggression while in their foster home. Both pups enjoy car rides and love relaxing in the passenger seat in their dog bed, taking in all the sights out the window. Both boys do great with meeting new people but have different approaches. Jake is very friendly right away and will accept love from whoever will give it to him, whereas Romeo is a bit more shy at first but warms up fairly quickly. Romeo can be a bit shy in general, but his counterpart Jake makes up for it! Adoption fee $600 for pair

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
