Dachshund mix Toby is 6 years old. He’s a sweet dog who is completely house trained. Toby does fine when left alone while his person is out and about but there is nothing that he loves more than hanging out with his human!
Although he does have a sweet nature, he can tend to be protective of his owner and may pull on the leash and bark when other dogs are approaching. He has had some good interaction with dog friends coming to visit, once he understands they are not a threat. Toby needs someone who will patiently work with him on this issue and he is well worth the effort!
It is unknown as to how he reacts to cats or children at this time.
Toby uses his dog bed during the day but enjoys cuddling up and sleeping with his foster parent too! It is likely he will be fine either way in his new home. Toby sleeps through the night and is a terrific companion to have around.
In our care he has received: Vet Check, Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication
He has a tendency to go on alert when strangers come to the door. It is obvious to us that he simply hasn’t much training in this department. Even so, his foster mom describes him as a wonderful dog – for someone who can help him feel comfortable.

Toby is a wonderful sweet dog. He is very well behaved in the house and extremely loving to people he knows. Because he is a 30 pound dog and one who is still young, he is hoping to find a paw-tner who will enjoy spending time cuddling with him, who doesn’t have too much company, and who will invest time into working with him to feel more secure around others. *Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
