Dachshund Little Bear for Adoption – Adopted

Dachshund Little Bear for Adoption

Dachshund Little Bear for Adoption

Dachshund Little Bear for adoption. All his life was spent with the same owner, until recently when she became physically unable to care for him and his companion.  Sadly, he also recently lost his companion to kidney disease. They were closely bonded and the adjustment has been difficult for him.

Can you imagine how his world has been turned upside down?  We are caring for him in a loving, stable foster home but he really needs a place to call his forever home where he can fully enjoy retirement.

Dachshund Little Bear for Adoption

Little Bear,  10 years  and 12 pounds, is active and still likes to play for short periods.  He’s a sweet dog who loves humans, but takes time to warm up to other dogs. With patience, he has come around and adjusted to foster siblings. He is fond of cuddling up in your lap!

While he enjoys cuddling and couch time with his human, this retired senior is no slouch! He’s an active retiree. Little bear absolutely loves being with his human. Whatever you are doing your side kick will be there! He can sit by your side, snuggle in the big bed, and enjoys going for walks.

He came to Low Rider with some reported “seizure-like episodes” and he has undergone complete neurological evaluation and has been diagnosed with epilepsy.  The neurological workup found no abnormalities/masses in the brain that suggested any other condition.  His epilepsy is being managed with medication and he currently experiences one episode every 2 to 3 weeks – which is not severe or violent in nature.  More information on these episodes can be obtained by speaking with his foster mom.

Little Bear is seeking a home with a human who has plenty of time to share with him. He struggled to adjust to other dogs in the beginning, but has adjusted, as long as he gets plenty of personal attention.

We are seeking a special home for him to enjoy his senior years. He requires an owner who has had some experience with seizure conditions or at least has significant experience with seniors, and no young children. Little Bear has plenty of love to share with an owner (or couple) who is looking for quiet lap dog and can closely monitor Little Bear for seizures.  If you have a place in your heart and your home for this sweet dog, we would love to speak to you about him.  Please fill out an application, add his name, and we will contact you. Thank you!

IF you live in Florida, at least part-time, please fill out each part of the adoption application online. When completed correctly, you will end on “Your Application Was Received” page to confirm. There is no fee to apply. If approved – Adoption Fee: $150 – this includes a discount for adopting seniors. Thank you!
