Adoptable Mix Pootie

Adoptable mix Pootie loves to cuddle and howl when you leave or he knows you arrived home. He’s full of personality. Pootie loves kids, but grumbles when he’s done being touched.

While a bit shy and reserved, Pootie will warm up to other dogs and has adjusted well to his foster siblings. Pootie is good on the leash and enjoys going for walks. He isn’t entirely house-trained. Although he is better, he continues to mark his territory in the house. He is also crate-trained.

Not food or toy aggressive, but Pootie will give a little growl to tell another dog to stay away from his food bowl. He enjoys car rides and is good in the car. Pootie is friendly when meeting new people and also new dogs. Although we aren’t sure how he would do with big dogs as he has not been with any since coming to Low Rider, he adjusted well to his siblings who are small dogs.

He has shown no signs of anxiety, but is afraid of loud thunder. It makes him want to hide by his person! Initially upon entry or exiting by the humans in his household, Pootie will howl and bark in greeting or to express his disapproval at their leaving. It does not reach the point the foster parent would qualify as anxiety.

Habits we are working to break: Marking his territory inside the house; grumbling and snapping with no big rhyme or reason. He just gets in a mood where he doesn’t want to be bothered. He also requires frequent ear cleaning and routine nail trims so his dew claws don’t get infected. He will need patience with marking in the house and when he gets a little grumbly.

In our care he has received: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication. His nails need to be kept trimmed and he was recently treated for a dew claw infection.

Adoptable mix Pootie will do well in a home with a couple who are home a lot or where there are older children and possibly a small dog friend. If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
