Adoptable mix McGhee has been friendly with children around 8-12 years old. Very young kids would not be the best fit as he is an older senior dog.
McGhee does not mind other dogs. But, he will growl if they get too close. He has been exposed to 4 small dogs without incidents, other than a little growl here and there. His eyesight likely makes him a little leary of other dogs approaching. He has not been around large dogs while in foster care. It is unknown as to how he feels about cats, but if they leave him alone, it’s not likely to be a problem.
Walking out of a fenced area, he has to be on a lead. McGhee is a bolter. He runs to the fence gates. He is so funny. He enjoys his walks and does very well on the leash.
No excessive barking, he does, however, like to bark at the neighbors dog! There are no signs of anxiety although, he will need some time to adjust to a new home. He’s good when meeting new people but needs to be introduced slowly as he cannot see very well and might get nervous.
McGhee is listed as slightly food aggressive as he simply wants to make sure he gets a treat when the other dogs do. He gets excited about food.
Fully house-trained, he is excellent for a senior dog. He does have puppy pads for backup but has only had a couple of accidents. He also is crate-trained and enjoys his dog bed. McGhee has enjoyed sleeping in the big bed with is foster mom.
McGhee loves to sleep! Loves the big bed, his bed, other dogs beds, the floor, sofa, rugs. He loves sleeping!
