Adoptable Dachshunds Gracie and Elsa

Adoptable Dachshunds Gracie and Elsa

Adoptable Dachshunds Gracie and Elsa are a super sweet and special pair of dapple doxies. Both Gracie and Elsa are blind and mostly deaf, but they don’t let that stop them from living their best lives! They are both 8 years old and have been together for a long time, so a home that is willing to adopt both girls together and give them their forever home will be best.

Gracie

Gracie – 8 yrs, 20 lbs

Gracie and Elsa have a few key differences in their personalities. Gracie is friendly and seems to enjoy the presence of other small pups, while Elsa prefers not to interact with them.

Elsa does not mind being in the same proximity as other pups, but just prefers to keep to herself. Elsa just thinks her sister, Gracie, is the coolest and would prefer to just hang out with her!

Both have been fine with larger pups. We are unsure how the girls would do around cats, but we do know that they are great around children of all ages! Both girls love to snuggle with their foster mom’s grandchildren.

Elsa – 8 yrs, 12 lbs.

Gracie does okay on short walks around the neighborhood, but Elsa would choose the yard instead! Elsa absolutely loves hanging out in the backyard, and Gracie thinks it is pretty great too!

It does not seem like the girls had much prior experience with being leashed and going on walks, and that paired with them being blind and mostly deaf can make things a little difficult so an adopter with a fenced in yard would be ideal for these two.

Both Gracie and Elsa are completely housetrained! Both girls do not mind being crated when necessary and Elsa will often even choose to sleep in her crate. They have not been crated too often in their foster home as it hasn’t been necessary, but they have had no issues with the few times they have been.

Gracie

Neither girl has shown food or toy aggression while in their foster home. Both girls do well meeting new people, but this is another place where their personalities differ. Gracie is friendly with everyone she meets and gets comfortable in no time, whereas Elsa tends to be very shy and quiet but will wag her tail! It just takes Elsa a bit longer to get comfortable.

In our care, they have received: Vet check, nails Trimmed, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication

Gracie and Elsa

Gracie is independent and friendly with every pup and person she meets, whereas Elsa just tends to keep to herself. Despite both girls being blind and mostly deaf, their foster mom says they are probably the most low maintenance dogs she has ever fostered! Gracie and Elsa are so deserving of the best forever home, and we can’t wait to find their loving family. Adoption fee $250 each, $500 pair

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
