Adoptable Dachshund Scrappy is a healthy, happy little guy. Since he’s blind and mostly deaf, he will need a very patient household. This little guy will pull at your heart strings. Unsure of his past, because he was dumped at the Hillsboro animal shelter. Scrappy is a healthy, 14 year-old male miniature dachshund.
Scrappy will take a longer amount of time to feel comfortable. A household with no aggressive dogs, cats, or children, would be preferred as he can’t defend himself. Scrappy will cry when he wants to go out to go potty. Once he learns the layout, he may go to the door.
Adoptable Dachshund Scrappy walks ok on a leash. He is still practicing. Scrappy loves to burrow in blankets in his bed. He isn’t aggressive or scared around other dogs, he just ignores them. Scrappy Loves treats!! He should have lots of toys around him. Licking them really soothes him.
Adoptable Dachshund Scrappy – 15 years – 10 lbs
Adoptable Dachshund Scrappy has had his Senior Vet Check, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Nail Trim, Major Dental (cleaning and removal).
Neutered, UTD on shots, and recently had a dental. He is blind and hearing impaired, but doesn’t let his challenges slow him down. This little boy is tenacious! He will require a family that can help him adjust to his new home slowly.
He has done well with his older, calm foster siblings. Unsure about cats, and would probably be fine with older children. He will do best in a home with someone that is home a lot, and doesn’t leave him alone for long periods.
He is fully house trained and will let you know when he needs to go out. Scrappy LOVES to lick, you or objects. This is a soothing behavior for him. He prefers to learn about his new environment on his own, but does occasionally get a little lost and needs a hand. When he needs something he will let you know by vocalizing. His favorite activity is licking his chew toy & sunbathing.
This happy, sweet boy needs a home where he can feel secure and be watched after. He deserves love and safety to live out the rest of his life.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
