Adoptable Dachshund Pickles – Adopted

Adoptable dachshund Pickles is a sweet 10 year old senior dog who is sure to steal your heart! She is house trained and enjoys short walks or trips out into the yard about 3-4 times each day.

She is great on a leash and just walks along side of you, when headed home she can pull a little but not all the time and very easy to handle. She loves her walks and going outside and let’s you know when she is done with her walk.

Her foster mom swears you can see Pickles smile when she goes for car rides! She obviously loves them. Much like with dogs, she will bark when she encounters people along the way, but she stops when told no and has not been aggressive in any way. She’s probably just saying hello! There is no excessive barking.

Pickles wasn’t used to being left alone, but her foster has successfully crated her, although initially, she isn’t happy with the crate, she then settles right down. When her foster mom tells her to go into the crate, she walks right in. She’s an obedient girl who wants to please.

She has not been around other dogs while in foster care. She barks sometimes when on a walk and see’s another dog but stops when you tell her NO. She has never gone after them she just keeps walking. We are unsure as to how she would be with cats.

Very young children are likely not the best fit for this senior dog, but older, calm kids should be fine. It’s always important to make sure guests and young people know how to handle the dachshund without causing injury.

A dog bed is where adoptable dachshund Pickles is accustomed to sleeping. Pickles buries herself under her big blanket that she LOVES! She has not been aggressive with her food in foster care but we are not sure how she would feel around other dogs. There were no other dogs in her foster home. When you get her toy she is not aggressive but will get excited and jump to try to get it.

Pickles takes a 1/2 tablet Carprofen (anti-inflammatory drug ) for left front leg. She’s never had any medical issues. She has been fully vetted and is up to date on vaccines and has had a dental exam.
