Adoptable Dachshund Jewel – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Jewel

Adoptable Dachshund Jewel is the sweetest girl! At Ten-years-old she has overcome so much since coming to the rescue and we can’t wait to find her forever home! She is currently recovering from a luxating patella surgery back in June. She has a slight limp and will continue to have one while she heals.

Adoptable Dachshund Jewel

In the home, Jewel likes to spend her afternoons cuddled up on a dog bed or on the couch. She is fully house trained and enjoys spending time outside relaxing. Jewel prefers to sleep with you in the big bed. She is a great companion! She does have separation anxiety and does not like to be crated. Jewel would be happiest in a home where she doesn’t have to be crated, and if she had another small dog to keep her company.

Jewel

Jewel gets along with small dogs or dogs slightly larger than her. She is skittish around large dogs and barks at them. We are unsure of how Jewel is around cats and small children. When meeting new furry friends, Jewel does best with slow introductions. She is great around new people! Jewel would not make the best travel buddy since she has a lot of anxiety in the car. She shakes and takes a while to settle.

Jewel

Jewel requires wet food or dry food mixed with water since she has had most of her teeth removed in Low Rider’s care. She can’t enjoy hard treats since she cannot chew well. The vet has prescribed her Cosequin for join support. She also takes daily supplements for skin support which has really worked well for her. Jewel has been fully vetted and is ready to go home to the best family for her!

In our care she has received Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Major Surgery (such as cancer tumor removal), Skin treatments/ infections, Nails Trimmed, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal), Luxating patella surgery. The following picture is Jewel BEFORE her much needed dental surgery. She won a contest during our April fundraiser with The Giving Challenge!

Adoptable Dachshund Jewel

Jewel is the sweetest girl and she deserves a good home. She is a love bug and is happiest when she’s near her people. We are seeking a home where people are home most of the day and she’s also hoping for a small dog to be her little companion! Adoption fee $250

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
