Meet Dachshund Frankie – Adopted

Meet Dachshund Frankie

Meet Dachshund Frankie! Frankie is 5 years old, weighs approximately 11 pounds, and cannot wait to meet his forever family. While Frankie is 5 years old, he has puppy-like energy. His foster family has even lovingly nicknamed him Tigger because he’s always bouncing around and hopping all over the place.

Frankie

Frankie gets along well with other small dogs. We are unsure how he would do with bigger dogs as he has not been around any since coming to the rescue. We are also unsure how Frankie would do around cats and children, as he has not been around either since becoming a Low Rider pup. Frankie would be very happy to have a furry friend in his forever home who is welcoming, playful and snuggly so that he has someone to keep him company when his forever parents are away.

Meet Dachshund Frankie

Frankie does good on leash and enjoys going for walks. He gets very excited for his walks, although he does decide he’d rather be carried not too long after starting! In his foster home, his walking routine looks like this: Frankie walks a bit, Frankie asks to get carried and his foster parent obliges, and then Frankie gets put down after a few minutes and happily finishes up his walk. Frankie will need an adopter who can commit to helping him with further house-training. He has quickly learned how to use the doggy door in his foster home to let himself out when he needs to go, but he does not always do this. He has been a quick learner in his foster home, so we think he will fully conquer potty training with just a little more time!

Frankie

Frankie is not crate-trained, so this would also have to be an area his adopter is committed to working on if they plan on using a crate for him. His foster parents tried crating him when they first got him and he showed signs of crate anxiety in the form of barking and crying excessively. Now, his foster parents leave him to free-roam with their other dogs when they leave the house and he does much better with this. He has shown no food or toy aggression while in his foster home. Frankie is not a big barker, aside from when he is crated.

Frankie enjoys lounging around in dog beds, but he much prefers spending his nights snuggled up with his humans in the big bed. As most dachshunds do, Frankie loves to burrow under the covers! Frankie enjoys car rides and is a great passenger. He is very friendly when it comes to meeting new people and new pups.

Vetting and Medical

Frankie is a pretty healthy little guy, with just a few things to note in that area. The vet said his paws look like they could be a little yeasty so his paws may need to be washed with medicated shampoo, occasionally. He also had severe GI upset for a week after he received his rabies vaccine, so it is important for his adopter to follow their vet recommendations on pre-treating prior to any vaccinations. Frankie seems to have a sensitive system, as he also had a reaction at his microchip injection site. A healthy diet of high quality food and “one ingredient treats”, would make his tummy very happy.

In our care, Frankie has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication – *Frankie will need a Bordetella vaccine once he is established with his adoptive family vet.

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Meet Dachshund Frankie

Dachshund Frankie – 5 yrs, 11 lbs.

Frankie would be best suited with a family who will allow him on the furniture and who will allow him to sleep with them in their bed because he is quite the velcro companion. That being said, he would be best paired with an adopter who is “sure footed” because Frankie is always under foot, being the little shadow that he is. Frankie will need a home that is well versed in training and willing to train Frankie because he does not currently understand any commands such as “sit”, “down”, “off”, etc. and he will need further house training. He can have a case of “Monkey see, monkey do” so a furry friend who can set a good example for him would be ideal. He is a smart and curious boy, he loves to play and snuggle and he is so eager to please. He would love a home where he will have lots of attention and company and he will return the love ten-fold. Adoption fee $300

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
