Adoptable Mix Buddy – Adopted

Adoptable Mix Buddy is as close to perfect as one can be. The best things about him are that he’s extremely calm, quiet, sweet, and a laid back dude.

Adoptable Mix Buddy

Buddy has met many dogs, one of which was a puppy that was jumping all over him trying to play and he politely stood there until she realized he was not a toy. He never growled or snapped at her. Buddy does not really react when he meets people; he wags his tail, says hi, and goes about his day.

Adoptable Mix Buddy likes to be around other dogs but is happy to be by himself as well. He is good in large groups of dogs, so he is an easy guy to bring to social events. While helping his foster mom at the horse farm, Buddy met a 150lb mastiff mix. They became immediate friends and they hang out multiple days a week.

Buddy met all of the barn cats and ignored them completely, even when they would try to steal his treats. He does not have a prey drive and never tries to chase them or any other small animals.

Buddy has met children ranging in ages from 3-14 and he is as kind and patient as he could be, even when they would pick him up or pet him a little rough as children sometimes do. Buddy didn’t know how to walk on a leash and was terrified of everything when he first arrived at his foster home. After a lot of patience and praise, he now walks on the leash like a pro. Buddy even gets excited and runs to the door when it’s time to go!

Adoptable Mix Buddy

Adoptable Mix Buddy doesn’t like new things, especially noisy items such as a lawn mower. He will sometimes freeze and try to run away. After his foster brothers showed him outside is a fun place to be, his confidence has improved dramatically. Buddy walks in a harness which keeps him from running away.

Buddy usually poops outside but will still mark in the house if not taken out enough. He will not pee in his crate or when he sleeps in bed with you at night. Buddy will need continued positive reinforcement when he goes potty outside and a steady potty schedule. He has improved so much in only a couple weeks with his foster!

Buddy feels safe in his crate and will sometimes go sleep in there even when the door is open. He prefers to sleep in the big bed, but would probably sleep in a dog bed if it were close to his human’s bed. Buddy goes on car rides almost daily and as long as there is a bed or blanket, he will curl up and enjoy the ride.

Adoptable Mix Buddy

Buddy will sometimes (but not often) bark at new people when they enter his foster home. He barks out of fear. As soon as his foster mom tells him he’s safe, he calms right down and will be in his new friends lap in no time. He likes men and women and does not bark unless the new person comes into his house; he is great meeting people out in public or on walks.

Adoptable Dachshund Buddy had his Adult Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Spay or Neuter, Skin treatments/ infections, Nail Trim, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal).

Adoptable Mix Buddy – 7 years – 16 lbs

This little Buddy is an adorable and sweet lovebug who simply needs a family of his own. His ideal life would include time outside playing, plenty of exercise, and life with a person who wants him around! He doesn’t mind if you have to work, but would want to be the center of your world otherwise. Buddy would need to have a person keep an eye on his skin as he had to fight off inflammation due to a lack of previous care. Sweet Buddy just needs a buddy of his own!

Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
