Adoptable Dachshund Toby 4

Adoptable dachshund Toby 4 is the sweetest dog once you’ve been chosen as his person. He sleeps in bed with his foster and when he wakes up he lays belly up for good-morning-rubs and kisses.

He’ll close his eyes and bask in the glory of the new day so much that it is contagious, and you just get into a good mood for the day ahead. Should you return home after a trip to the grocery store, he will jump up and down on you and want to be held and act like you’ve been gone for a year.

Toby plays well with other dog! He likes them big and small. He’s a big fan of food (ahem, dachshund) but has not been food aggressive.

While Toby gets along with the dogs in his foster household, he barks at dogs he meets during walks! He was able to eat his food without food aggression, but the dogs were kept apart when during feeding time.

He does not, however, get along with cats, and will chase them. We do not recommend a home with a cat, even if the cat is OK with dogs. Toby does not like too many people either. When he was given up, we were told he does not like men. He bonds with women easier, but basically bonds with one person he picks as ‘his’, and protects her fiercely. He barks at people who come up to the house, and on walks. We do not recommend introducing him to children under 5, or even older ones unless you are extremely experienced and have spent a lot of time with him.

Toby feels safer in a crate in the car, though he will insist to sit on your lap. On the lap though he will shiver and shake and try to bury into our hair or armpit. In the crate though he sits for a while and then lays down calmly.

Toby

Toby enjoys walks and does good on a leash, he will pull if he sees other dogs. He’s easily controllable on his harness. Toby is house trained, but will mark his territory around new places or people. He sleeps in bed at night with his foster mom and has never had an accident in the bed or in his crate. He is also crate trained. When leaving him in a crate while you are gone, he will whine for about 15 minutes before settling down.

Toby

He is very anxious around new people and generally does not like men. Any introductions to new people should be done very slowly and cautiously, as he can get very mouthy and nippy if someone tries to pet him or pick him up without his consent.

In our care Toby received: Vet Check, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Spay or Neuter

Adoptable Dachshund Toby 4

Adoptable Dachshund Toby 4 is 3 yrs, 10 lbs.

Toby has a lot of love to give to his person. He prefers women and will do best in a home without men, children, or cats. Toby has lived with 2 larger dogs in his foster home and was very good with them. When visiting another foster home during his foster mom’s vacation, he loved playing with another mini Doxie his size. Toby is looking for a very low key home without a lot of visitors. He will be your shadow and will shower you with kisses when you wake up in the morning. If you’re lucky enough to be chosen by this little guy, you will have his love for a lifetime. $350 is the Adoption fee.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
