Adoptable Dachshund Prada

Adoptable dachshund Prada has been ADOPTED – she’s a young 5-year-old who is well-behaved and very stylish! This beauty is timid when meeting new dogs, but quickly warmed up to her foster siblings. As you can see, Prada lives up to her stylish name!

Although she isn’t particularly fond of the foster family cat, she ignores him like the proper lady she is. She does show some signs of anxiety and will whine when upset. She is NOT fond of thunder, and will whine, cry, and burrow under blankets to soothe herself. Hopefully, she can be taught to overcome this fear, or find a home where she has plenty of cuddles during storms!

She is fully housebroken, but you need to watch for her signals when she needs to go out. She will cry and whine around the house and the door when she needs out. If she is taken out every 2-3 hours on a regular basis, she will be fine.

This girl loves her crate! She loves to have sheets and blankets in it to burrow under. Her dog bed is in her crate. She will sit with family members under her blanket on a chair next to the owner and nap, and loves to be near her people at all times. Prada generally sleeps in her crate but has on occasion slept in bed with her fosters.

Time in the yard is one of her favorite things and she plays fetch as well. Even though she’s an outside loving dog, she doesn’t seem to love walks on the leash. This is something that should be corrected with time, but again, she loves time in the yard!

Prada gets very nervous in a car and when her environment gets changed. When she is newly adopted, the family will have to understand it may take a week or so for her to relax and show her true self. She likes routine and cars make her very nervous. But she LOVES riding in a golf cart!

Prada is a sweet velcro dog who really loves her people. She is devoted to her family once she gets to know and trust them. She loves to play fetch, sit with you and cuddle under her blanket. She is housebroken and loves to take naps in her crate on the couch. She is active and fun when she wants to be, but also appreciates her downtime. The perfect combination!

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
