Meet Adoptable Dachshund Archie! He is an eight-year-old, dachshund, who is the biggest lovebug! Once he loves someone, he wants to spend every second with them. He really enjoys following his humans around the house and is just the happiest dog in the world to sit at your feet or lay in the dog bed next to you.
Archie does well with small to medium sized dogs. When he is around larger dogs, he gets a little nervous and barks. Foster mom believes he would do ok with larger friends if there was a slow introduction. Archie prefers to be amongst other dogs in the home. When he is crated away from others, or spends any time alone, he barks significantly. This is why we would prefer Archie to be adopted into a home with at least one other dog.
Since arriving at his foster family, Archie has made much progress with house training. In fact, he is just about perfect with it! He is used to being let out about every 3-4 hours during the day and can sleep through the night. Archie has been crated in the past, but he seems to prefer to stay out of the crate with the other dogs. He also enjoys to sleep with his people in the big bed on a pillow. How adorable!
Archie does well on leash and enjoys going for walks. He also doesn’t mind car rides. He likes to lay on a dog bed in the car. There isn’t much that bothers this sweet boy, other than being left alone without a friend.
Archie does require a medication twice a day for dry eyes. He does well when you place the ointment in his eyes. The medication itself costs about $65 a month, maybe more, depending on where the prescription is filled.
He arrived in Low Rider’s care with skin issues, which he has been wearing an Atopivet collar to help. He would benefit from getting another collar at the beginning of July to keep improving his skin issues. A salmon-based diet, in addition to omega-3 supplements and salmon oil are given to him to support skin health.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
