Lex needs a loving home. But he has a list of requirements in order for him to become your lifelong companion. We need to adhere to these requirements because in his short life of 4 years so far he has had far too many homes.
You see, although they tried, his people did not understand what he is dealing with or how to manage it. He has special emotional needs. It’s heartbreaking to think about, because he is a sweetheart with total devotion and love to offer!
He is a true mini at just about 10 pounds, and as handsome as they come. For reasons we may never know he struggles with anxiety (both in general and separation anxiety) to the point that he is on medication daily to manage it.
He does VERY WELL on the medication. He is smart and learns quickly. He just needs a particular someone to commit to him, as he commits to them. As you can see from the short video – he is adorable and ready to find his one true love!
Lex Needs a Loving Home
List of requirements to help Lex find his true love:
- LEX NEEDS A HOME WITH ONE FEMALE WHO IS HOME MOST OF THE TIME.
- LEX NEEDS A HOME WITH NO OTHER ANIMALS OF ANY KIND.
- LEX NEEDS A PERSON WHO WANTS THE CONSTANT COMPANIONSHIP HE FREELY OFFERS AND WANTS TO BUILD A BOND WITH JUST HIM.
Because of this strong commitment to his human, Lex does not share well. He refuses to share anything…attention, toys, treats, food, you name it. He reacts negatively enough to these things that no person has yet become comfortable with his limitations. And yet he is so very worth it!
We won’t stop until we find the right fit for him. As you can see, this list of “must haves” are truly “MUST HAVES”. Thank you for understanding and if you know a lonely dachshund lover somewhere who needs company…look no further…
Step ONE is to fill out an application. One of our fabulous volunteers will contact you to discuss whether or not Lex is the one for you. Don’t worry, our dedicated volunteers will continue to work with you to find the perfect doxie or wanna-be doxie after processing your application.
If you are able to make a donation, we greatly appreciate it! Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida is a not-for-profit, ALL Volunteer run organization.
We work daily to rescue dachshunds and honorary doxies (many from kill shelters) all around the state. When we make a match, a volunteer or team will drive to deliver your new love to you. We do not maintain a shelter where you can visit, but instead use a network of temporary foster families. We implement a 2 week trial to be sure the new family member is the right fit. Thank you for your support!
