Adoptable Dachshund Bogey – Adopted

Adoptable dachshund Bogey is Adopted – He’s a 12-year-old senior dachshund who weighs 17 pounds. Someone forgot to tell our Humphrey Bogart (a.k.a. Bogey) that he’s a senior dog! One of his favorite things is to climb into his toy bin and hang out. He’s young in spirit!

Bogey is housetrained except for the fact that he will mark when in a new place due to not having been neutered. This is not excessive and does dissipate with time. He is crate trained and does well on a leash.

Although he is not always fond of being crated. If he is feeling calm and is not in need of anything, he tolerates it very well. He would prefer not to spend much time in the crate unless it is necessary.

Bogey enjoys car rides, short walks, and other dogs. He’s a sweet, enjoyable dog to be around. This Senior dog simply needs a safe and happy retirement home.

Bogey is healthy with 2 exceptions. He has a significant heart murmur that prevents him from being put under anesthesia and he is still intact so he will not be neutered (due to medical reasons) when he is adopted.

He also has severe periodontal disease (with the teeth that have not already fallen out due to no history of dental care) and while in our care 3 teeth fell out due to abscesses and he was in a lot of pain with them. Again, because of the anesthesia issue, he cannot receive a dental so his dental health will need to be managed by antibiotic pulse therapy to keep any future infection “at bay” as best it can be.

Bogey is a sweet senior that does not act his age. He enjoys attention, has medium energy, and loves to explore in the backyard. He can still even run when he wants to and we feel he hears and sees well.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
